The city of Pembroke Pines has lived by a motto of “Join us – Progress with us” and progress it has more than done. The city of Pembroke Pines has experienced much growth the first one being in the late 1990.  Since then the City of Pembroke Pines has continued to grow and progress into one of the fastest growing cities in Broward, County.

The name Pembroke Pines was taken from its location along Pembroke Road and the many pines trees that lined the area, but the name “Pembroke” dates back much further and may have originated from one of the early landowners from Britain known as the “Earl of Pembroke”. Go back a couple thousand years and it’s recorded that the first inhabitants of Pembroke Pines where originally American Indians who first appeared more than 4,000 years ago.

The town of Pembroke Pines first started out as agricultural land occupied by dairy farms and grew after World War II as servicemen were retiring including larger eastern sections that were part of the Waldrep Dairy farm.

Flash forward to today and Pembroke Pines is currently one of the largest cities in Broward County. Bordered by the Everglades to the west, I-75 in the middle and Florida’s Turnpike to the east making Pembroke Pines a prime location with access to all major highways and interstates. Even with all the growth the city has experienced and with over 160,000 residents it has still kept its friendly small town feel and only one of the many reasons so many call Pembroke Pines home.
